The Petition is in!

Sheffield Swift Network ‘s ‘Make Swift Bricks Compulsory’ petition was handed over to Sheffield City Council today, (24th November 2022) and was positively received by councillors .

Whilst the council fell short of agreeing to mandate swift bricks in all new buildings, they DID suggest that the Local Plan – which is a strategic document – would include swift bricks in the examples of what can be included to increase biodiversity.

The Committee even allowed comments to be added from the gallery which isn’t usually permitted.

Shout out to our Flora Jeferzade for delivering the speech in the halls of local power, with passion and clarity, and of course to Nicola Gilbert who has spent months tirelessly working on and for the petition
The true hero of the hour.

Dear Sheffield Swift Lovers,

Your help in endorsing our petition and supporting swifts is invaluable. Did you know that anyone of any age, who lives, works and studies in Sheffield, including young people, can sign it? To give swifts a chance of surviving we need to get 5,000 valid signatures to beg SCC for the planning changes they need. Please sign and share.

Thank you very much.
