This summer, Sheffield Swift Network is running a survey of around 400 homes in S5 and S9 to find out exactly where these amazing birds are nesting – ahead of the Council’s re-roofing programme which begins next year.

Your help could make all the difference. By joining us to locate active nest sites, we can protect them and ensure that new homes for swifts are created where needed.

When?

Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 26th May, around an hour before dusk until light fades (we adjust the times as the day length changes).

What’s involved?

• Join as many or as few evenings as you like. 
• No experience needed – we’ll show you everything on site. 
• ID guides and short videos are provided when you sign up.
• Volunteers are added to a WhatsApp group for information, updates and meet-up details.
• Expenses for mileage are covered. We will try and arrange lift shares where we can.

Public liability insurance is in place.
